"..... Minor’s wife Sylvia developed breast cancer during the trial, which metastasized to her brain and lungs. Last month doctors stopped all medications other than those for pain management ....."

Paul Minor has been imprisoned for drinking while released on bond pending appeal. His attorneys have obtained a hearing before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on March 30th and are seeking his release so he can rush to his ailing wife's bedside. Breast cancer is a race against time and for Sylvia Minor time is running out. i do not think release after march 30th will be in time and it breaks my heart to watch this tragedy unfold. These things happen in the USSR not in America.

As I have pointed out in earlier articles the case against Minor was weak and the Judge appeared biased. Harpers has done an excellent review of what appears to be a politically motivated prosecution that I review in another Blog post here at Injury Board: HELP! Sylvia Is Facing Breast Cancer Alone Without Paul - A Story of Justice Gone Wrong!.

The Bush Administration was involved in what appeared to be the use of our justice system to target political opponents. Release during appeal would be the normal result in a case like this. A story at The Mississippi Clarion Ledger website gives the current update.

As Larisa Alexandrova writes on her Blog "Let's hope Sylvia Minor stays alive to make it to March 30th."

Larisa Alexandrova also explains the history of Sylvia's cancer:

As previously reported by Raw Story, Minor’s wife Sylvia developed breast cancer during the trial, which metastasized to her brain and lungs. Last month doctors stopped all medications other than those for pain management, indicating that Mrs. Minor is in the final stages of her illness. Minor has been attempting to get an appeal bond to be with his wife before she passes

According to Minor’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, it will be up to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to rule on Minor's appeal bond request. Lowell also indicates that Minor could apply for a furlough instead, writing in an email on Monday that Minor "can seek a compassionate furlough from the Bureau of Prisons based solely on his wife's condition."

I wonder if people reading this will have the same emotion I am experiencing? I am interested in what you feel and whether anyone is willing to do something about it? Your comments are important!

To set the record straight Paul Minor was released TWICE and broke the rule of his release both times. He is an alcoholic and was found drunk at one release and went missing from his ankle monitor for 4 hours at the other and was at a place they serve alcohol which also is not allowed. Why release him for the third strike and out? He is guilty of racketeering, bribery and fraud and the court system and the public is better off with him in prison as the courts determined.
